Development of the Family-Based Care Model for Stroke Survivors to Promote Healthy Family Dynamics: Participatory Action Research

In many cultures around the world, including those in Thailand, family caregivers have different views on caring for stroke survivors. These affect process, which tends to be a heavy burden caregivers. This study used participatory action research develop Family-Based Care Model Stroke Survivors Promote Healthy Family Dynamics. survivors and their were recruited via purposive sampling from two primary care units Nonthaburi, Thailand. Fourteen participated four cycles of activities 16 weeks they divided into groups seven. Data collected using group discussions, observations, home visits, telephone, LINE application, field notes, as well demographic questionnaire. Participants each created caregiving strategies balance life tailored survivors’ families. Individual collective self-reflective method that contained steps: planning, acting, observing, reflecting. Qualitative data analyzed ATLAS.ti 8.0 program categorization themes. The major themes emerged described process survivors: 1) Assessing problems developing strategies; 2) Making collaboration changing 3) Balancing body mind empower themselves; 4) dynamics. demonstrated there five main phenomena affecting care: caregiver characteristics, functions relationships, assistant support, community resources, nurses. model developed this can help direct nurses promote healthy dynamics Thai survivors, however, it is necessary further tested through before being applied practice.
